MADDs "Tie One on For Safety" Red Ribbon Rally

The Central Texas Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is excited to announce plans for its annual. Tie One on for Safety Campaign. Tie One on for Safety was launched by MADD in 1986, and is now well known and nation. Every year before the holidays MADD distributes red ribbons for car antennas to serve as a reminder to the community to not drink and drive.

MADD, Central Texas and Bird Kultgen Ford invite the community to come to our Red Ribbon Rally, which begins at 11:15 a.m. on November 18, 2003. The rally is being held at MADDs newest top sponsor, Bird Kultgen Ford, located at 1701 West Loop 340 in Waco.

The holidays, as you know, are a time for fun and celebration, but without proper planning it can become

MADD in partnership with Bird Kultgen Ford will be providing boxes of red ribbons for individuals, community businesses, and area law enforcement. Food will also be provided. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend! Attending the event will be many representatives from Department of Public Safety, Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission, Texas Department of Transportation, Waco Police Department, McLennan County Sheriffs Department, along with many other area law enforcement agencies. Also in attendance will be area prosecutors, judges, and county commissioners.

We are also excited to announce BEAR 102.5 is our radio sponsor for the rally. D.J. Brent Henslee is going to broadcast live from the Red Ribbon Rally, and the Bear is going to promote our event in the upcoming days on the BEAR!

VICTIMS RIGHTS WEEK

Each year, MADD provides a voice for the victims and families affected by drunk driving at its annual Candlelight Vigil. The week provides a forum for bereaved people, injured crash survivors, and their caregivers to learn, reflect, share, comfort and be comforted.

YOUTH POWER CAMPS

Every summer MADD conducts Youth Leadership Power Camps to help young people learn the skills necessary to affect true environmental changes in their communities. From addressing public policy options, to joining efforts with law enforcement, to using the media as a tool, youth will learn ways to change attitudes that condone underage drinking and overlook drug use.


NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
August 2004

National Night Out is where involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials come together to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, communities celebrate with block parties, cookouts, visits from local police, parades, contests, and awareness events.
